My story: This is part four of job four.
This temp job from hell already feels like a full-time job. So I’ll count it as my real job, too.
Again, here I’ve encountered another situation in which my happy, bubbly personality outshines my past.
That in and of itself leads to other friendly people who misconstrue such connection and romantically interested.
The tall black guy seemed interested in me from the get go. On my very first day, I barely wheeled past his desk when he made a comment that he didn’t know if I was married or single.
That was weird and shocking way to meet a new person. I wasn’t even concerned about meeting people, period.
I just wanted to complete my temp assignment and get the hell out after 2-6 months of karmic service.
I had left over Toblerone brand chocolates which he seemed to like. I handed those out to whoever seemed interested at that time.
He misunderstood my gesture of simply “getting rid” of unwanted and unused chocolate left over from Christmas holiday gifts!
That’s when he suggested we go out to see a movie next month in April. But two days afterwards, I changed my mind.
I reported to the boss via the work’s Instant Messenger system on what I said and did and expressed my concern if the guy was “okay”.
I’ve already “sensed” that he was “disturbed”. I also sensed that “disturbance” in Kevin, who is recently sporting that “devil’s beard,” which I like on a guy, depending on how he looks and how carries himself.
So, I must learn to be wary here, too. I don’t know if I have the assertiveness to be supervisor. I simply gave up long ago.
