We finished watching an old Filipino show starring Nora Aunor. The military would shoot at trespasser. Likewise, Filipinos would rob military personnel as soon as they leave the U.S. base.
In the Clark Air Force Base, Filipino people were trying to steal the goods of the base. So the people who work inside the base connive to participate in “black market”. In this show, they military would “bribe” the family of the deceased to make up for their mistake in shooting what they thought were “wild boars” or human-pigs.
In the US Marines stationed in the City of Olongapo in Zambales, Philippines, the Marines would shoot at Filipino people, who wait outside the gate.
In Okinawa, Japan, everybody in the base would rush to prepare for the typhoon. So the people would go to the commissary and then they sell the “goods” to outside buyers. Even active personnel from Air Force and Navy would participate to sell cigarettes for higher price.
Even American assigned there are buying and married to Filipino they too do black market. That’s why Filipinos worldwide are know to be shameful “thieves”. The “black-market” (nah-lah-gah-rii) was prevalent in/aroumd these military bases
The old saying goes: Whatever you feed your kids, the same will happen to their kids. If you steal, then your children will steal.
