Here are my notes via the “Memo” app of my cellphone today:
During this prayer that so few people knew because there wasn’t enough to pass around, I wiped my watery eyes and continued to blow my watery boogers while hiding my face behind the “daily companion” which I held in my left hand. I dared not sing too loudly or pray at all so as to avoid triggering my allergic/coughing/post nasal dripping episode. I was able to sign harmony through my nasal congestion and while both batteries to my hearing aides were NOT working!
The creepy part about the whole event were the statues. They were all spooky and seemed to come alive as if djinns were looking from within their “containers”. One statue had long, curly brown hair. The skin was ashen in color. Another one had a big pumpkin head and was probably the tallest. Two more statues were at the bottom of the tables and they looked like twins with their white, sleeve-less shirts and straw hats. If Catholics church would only enforce the Second Commandment “Don’t worship graven images“, I’m sure there won’t be any market for crucifixes and these creepy statues. The same goes for certain Buddhists and their death wishes to statues.
16:31. Two black boys were smiling as they crossed a yellow-marked, pedestrian zone, which was immediately near an entrance to our local parish. They didn’t bother pressing the yellow button to activate the flashing yellow lights. A light-colored sedan to my left was stopped. I knew I had to stop too but to its right while I used my right turn signals. The fools wanted trouble. They will get it in the next karma. Anyway, we dropped off two trays of home-made “bibingka” cake for the refreshments after the celebrations of graven images (i.e. Santo Nino). We didn’t attend.
Maw felt out of breath after hurrying to deliver her foodstuff to the parish hall. I decided to exit the parking lot and head on home. But I noticed two SJPD patrol cars making their rounds in the area. One was stopped at the corner (and in front of a house) where the yellow button was located. Prior to exiting, I noticed more black kids having fun on their skateboards. Earlier at around 4:15pm, one black kid with wall-eyes looked into my direction as he skateboarded eastbound on Hostetter and in front of my path like a “black cat” as I stopped to allow the traffic to pass.
16:01. I was getting dressed for this evening’s five o’clock mass and looked out my bedroom window to see a slow-moving white car trying to avoid a white-colored bedding foam blow from the rest of a dump next to the Chinese renters living across from us. The foam settled in the middle of MY drive. Due to high winds it moved over the gutter. The white guy slowly parked his car on the side street and it is still there. The girl opened the door to him as he came out of the car and unloaded stuff from his trunk. I saw the girl’s orange car parked on the usual right hand side of the driveway with the blue car nowhere to be seen on the left side.
After eating lunch and taking a shower, I took my two-hour, mid-afternoon nap. The sunshine was bright and bearing down through the wooden blinds. I had to “reverse” sleeping direction and place my long pillow at the foot of the bed to catch its rays upon my congested face and neck. It felt good to feel the warmth in the hopes of healing my six months cooties of flu-like symptoms.
The baby parakeet has been outside its nest box twice today and yesterday, too. It climbed high on the cage twice today and fell down on the second attempt. It’s wing tips got caught in the wires. It doesn’t know yet how to fly because it’s flight feathers and tail feathers are not yet fully grown. Maw said it looks like it is not well fed and that’s because Bully is not aggressive enough to feed the baby and Yeyo keeps poking Bully away. I dropped the baby once upon the carpet and hoped that it is okay. It struggled in my hands
