We just arrived from a doctor’s appointment scheduled at 13:15pm. It was mostly about Maw’s heart problems:
- Fluctuations in blood pressure, going as high as 180/80 to as low as 130/50. The doctor said some of his patients have diastolic readings as low as 45.
- Nauseous last night. This is probably lots of acidic food.
- Loss of appetite, which the doctor said was `good` for her losing weight.
- Dizziness, which is the cause of most high blood medications. This could be dealt with by slowly getting up from a sitting or prone position and resting for one minute each time before walking.
Her current heart medications were kept at a conservative treatment. My sentiments kept growing, though, knowing that once people go on medications, it’s hard to get off. Maw tried weaning herself off these prescribed medications but her blood pressure kept going up. I joked to her that she might be an entity whose blood pressure readings were higher than average.
She is the type to keep busy, a form of relaxation for her, just like her boy, whose hobby is currently water related from kayaking to sailboating. With the effects of high blood pressure medication, the heart rate is kept too low for her passions in life. Sometimes she is unconscious most of the day, sleeping soundly during mid-mornings and afternoons, too.
But today, she stopped taking one heart pill, which I’ve read last night as causing dizziness, typically. Her body is responding well to the water pills. She is still taking two heart pills, one low dose aspirin, and one cholesterol pill.
