Not all the makeup could possibly cover the dents and dings on my body. On Sunday, 12-28-2008, I am to be one of the bride’s maids. And the dress is off the shoulder and burgundy in color, which really looks like dried blood as is my nail polish.
After shaving the stray hairs on the face of ‘Kali’ and plucking and cutting her eyebrows, too, she went fast asleep. This was an opportunity for me play around with my face and to find the best color combination for my skin problems.
Last Saturday when I got my nails and waxing job done, the red dots on the corners of my hairline and along the jaw line wouldn’t go away. So for the past for days, I scrubbed my whole face until got red. I wanted to remove the surface skin and allow the little hairs to come out a bit; so that the red bumps would go way.
But the bumps stayed. I figured since iodine was used for prepping the skin prior to surgeries that it was good enough to clean my skin faster. I suspect that the hot wax contained contaminants from previous clients (like very hairy Indian guys). Why is it that these local Asian salons are dirty?
The over sized cover to the chair in the back room was obviously a white bed sheet. It was dirty and had hair clippings and dried wax on it. The floors are dirty with hair clippings. I wonder if their hair clipping and nail tools are disinfected properly.
I wanted to bring ‘Kali’ in to have her nails done for Sunday’s event. But she is diabetic and was advised not to use their soaking tub for her feet. She suggested that we bring out own cutting tools. I think we will go get her nails and hair done at our local hair salon.
A primary reason why I don’t go to hair and nail salons that often: It’s because I don’t know if the previous clients have cooties and the tools used on my person are clean enough. I don’t like strangers touching me either.
But I had to get my hairy arms fixed. And since the eyeball doctor was right next to the salon, I went there — dropping in without an appointment. The nail polish is holding strong; since it is acrylic and done very lightly, even though my nails are already hard and don’t need this type of service.
My main concern was my uneven tan still retained on my upper shoulder from this summer and hyper pigmentation of my skin from my DNA. A skin doctor (from years ago) suggested using hydrogen peroxide to cleanse my skin. I instead decided to apply iodine liquid to burn off whatever irritated my skin.
I did a research on using harsh products such as hydrogen peroxide. It makes the skin cleaner and possible lighter. I read elsewhere that ‘aliens’ would clean their skins this way for the ease of food absorption through the skin. But I wouldn’t know if I’m ‘alien’ just because I got brown dots on my lower arms and red dots on my upper arms.
So with the off-the-shoulder dress, I’ll be wearing the gold-colored shawl the whole time to cover my arms. Wearing a floor length dress also helps to keep my system warm. Last night, ‘Kali’ and I bought pants to wear underneath our clothing to keep warm during the event. I’ll be wearing my new black pants from ‘Targets’.
So it’s back to the make-up. I noticed that the dark circles under the eyes needed lots of concealer. My hooded eyelids look better with darker shades of black and brown. It gives the effect of wearing false eyelashes. Lighter eye colors don’t stand out because my white is lighter than my tanned arms.
My skin coloration is weird — part dark-skinned Filipino and my lighter Asian counterpart. I even thought of putting tanning makeup, sprays, moose, lotions, etc… on my upper arms and face just to get the even tone. I wonder if the stores are open today. I should try on my face to see what happens.
