Today at around 08:30AM, I arrived to my new job across from the light rail system of N. First Street. I was not too excited because I’ve been through enough already since yesterday and mostly for the past seven years. I’ve been worried about others that I forgot about taking care of myself. So this is a reason why I had to return to work because my ‘mission’ here on earth is incomplete.
And the blessing in disguise happens to be the strength to bear my hardship with patience and the good timing in the sincere belief of giving than receiving. So yesterday and today, I’ve done the best I could to alleviate my concerns. As a result, I expect nothing in return except knowing that (in spite of my own hardship) there was enough for the season to be jolly but for a little while.
Basically, I got placed on a list last year by an agent and yesterday got knocked out by a second agent. So I tried calling the 1-800 to find out what happened to my profile online for the second one and couldn’t wait. I had to decide the best course of action and solved my dilemma just in time before I left for work this morning. I thought I was late for work, too.
The drive to and from work was no more than fifteen minutes. Thank George and the agency for placing me! The client is 95% regulated by the State of California. And when and if after six months (in May 2008) I do get hired full-time from a temporary position, I would be in the system with benefits and such.
The place is quiet though, which is typical of this sort, except sharing the cube with a guy coughing his lungs out and crumpling the paper to do a slam dunk into the trash can located to my right. Overall, I managed to stay calm and tried not to verbalize my frustrations out loud during this probationary period as a temporary tool.
The accounting group of twenty-seven people had an 8:30PM meeting about holiday events and a good discussion about safety at the workplace, such as evacuations and hand signals in case of emergency (like disgruntled former employees toting guns). My cross-trainer is knowledgeable and like her most of these people are, shall I say, well-seasoned old farts.
At 14:00, we had a dry run of evacuating the building and waiting out on the parking lot, with the head count done by the boss of the accounting department. I didn’t say much as I stared straight ahead. Earlier, I did notice some blinking occurring as I sat filing. I thought this was my mind but it turns out to be the alarm system kept going off — I didn’t do anything, really [wink]!
Also, I had a chance to watch people play ping-ping for both 15-minute breaks and half-hour lunch. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The water at the two water fountains tasted wrong and turned off my nose. In the afternoon and after suffering from lack of water in the morning, I finally discovered the filter attached to the coffee maker and made use of the hot water with lemon tea for the rest of the day.
I didn’t eat breakfast and lunch as part of my ‘diet’ plan to rid myself of a fatter tummy (or pooch). My tummy growled only once in the afternoon and experienced no tummy-ache the whole day. I may wish to bring my own bottled water and sandwich from now on. I saved on gasoline by not driving out to grab some grub since we are given half an hour for lunch.
Based on ‘Kali-Maw’s insight, she told me that my prayers have not been answered because I would get in trouble. So with that piece of data, I had to sign up for a job and get back to not only helping myself get out of the credit card debt (founded by TPTB) but also helping those in the most need. I am not psychic and do not read minds of those suffering.
After reading the weblogs, I felt what I did was right and without reservation. Sometimes using discernment doesn’t always work but when faced with reality action must be taken. I’m a new temporary worker doing my job in this temporal world. Anything done out of my hard work has already been repaid with blessings in disguise — my personal faith in ‘God’ and the belief in positive thoughts.
