Unheard Voice But Loud Enough
“Are you on board? Congratulations! I know you can do it!” Paw inquired as he shook my hand.
Tonight, I had practiced singing with the church choir. This would be my second time practicing with a group that has been around since coming to this city in 1976.
The conductor (from Guam) helped test my vocal range after I inquired where I would best fit into the group. I could sing both “alto” and “soprano” but she preferred me to stay in the soprano section. And that is where I would find my new voice – singing unto the Lord. But with the new conductor coming on aboard next week, I will find out more later on exactly what is expected of me.
For the past decade, I’ve complained to myself and then online about how my voice has not been heard. I’d present my case as an unwilling and unwitting victim to the grand scheme of things on this blog and have gotten a few comments and a few more followers. Being of good faith and trusting in only the good, I continued blogging about many events from mundane to spectacular. But I slowly found that blogging served no purpose but to fuel an already spent emotion. No longer was I hostile, anger, hateful, depressed, vengeful but more understanding as I came to grips with my failures.
I wasted time and talent. Needless to say, I made a move, not a resolution, but something else beyond the confines of an old meme – blogging and into another realm of activity, namely singing. I loved to sing during morning masses; since I am still un/deremplyed and have given up fighting for lost causes, such as trying to change things that I cannot change – bad attitudes. So with encouragement from a local parishioner during a reception after a burial of a parishioner earlier this month, I tried something that I should have done long ago – volunteer.
That’s right! I didn’t want to earn money or pay taxes. My work philosophy was mostly non-for-profit. Although I didn’t have anything left to my name to go anywhere or to buy anything, I figured this a gesture of goodwill will help me funnel my new-found energy towards more positive vibrations publicly through sound and away from negative bantering silently through words.
I would prove to myself that I’m good enough to stand before faithful people who have found their peace and tranquility among others lost souls and inspire more talented people to join in a choir where “angels” sing and rejoice in life and for living.
“You’ll enjoy yourself.” Said Elizabeth. “Stick around.” Said the choir master.
Okay! I will!
