When is it ok to strike first?

It is okay to strike first when death is within inches of your life/person. Would you rather stand still and accept a frying pan to the head? Or would you rather dodge the bullet?

Obviously, the will to survive is strong and therefore to strike first MUST happen when the actual weapon has been deployed and NOT before idle words of empty threats.

That’s why I would prefer ICBM to intercept any missles over pre-emptive strikes upon the environment. If all diplomatic means to resolve differences cannot be achieved then strike back.

If the person giving the order could be stopped from pressing the red button, that’s better then having a bigger mess to clean up in the event of an exchange with nuclear arms.

In our individual lives, and international politics, when is it acceptable to strike first? Is it ever ok? Or are there only special circumstances that justify it?

Have you ever attacked someone first? How do you feel about it now? Or are there times in your life that you used restraint, that now, looking back, you wish you hadn’t?
