Are you stupid? Well, the answer would be yes and no. You see, I’m a middle-aged woman and I thought I knew everything necessary. I had good grades without really trying. Even Mr. Jay, the red-bearded physics teacher in my senior years gave me an “A-” grade. But I was wrong. I am stupid, really.
For example, I had a thought this afternoon: I was so greedy to get a good grade in a middle-school math class that I had to fight for that stupid “bogus buck”. The white/second person, who read off the correct answer, would have gotten full credit.
“Go tell him.” Whispered a classmate who was seated at my left side at our table. But I was too embarrassed to go after something so stupid. I had my pride, you know. I didn’t want the bearded white teacher with an Afro hair-do of light brown to think I was stupid.
After feeling uncomfortable for a few minutes, I raised my hand and said: “One-and-one half”. I mispronounced the original answer as “one-half”; got half the credit; and a final letter grade for the class somewhere in the “B” range.
Author’s note: Herein, Evil Kitty has made a confessional. “Bad kitty!” Exclaimed God as he angrily grabs a plastic water sprayer from a shelf, menacingly points the hand-held object at her and gently sprays water mist twice upon her face. She flinches in shame. Evil Kitty is so terribly sorry! I apologize herein! Have mercy!
