20250114-0928. I’m still tweaking my weblog site. The header is troublesome. I’m trying to squeeze my four dropdown menus, along side the Site Icon and/or Site Title, read blog button and search bar.
But I was only able to squeeze three items: site title, one menu and read blog button.
I wasn’t paying close attention to the three views for desktop, tablet and mobile.
For strange reason, I was able to “study” and figure out, but I’m still NOT too sure as I’m still learning, how to adjust the justifications and assignments.
I know I want to squeeze elements in one horizontal row for at least not desktop and tablet views and have the Container stacked vertically.
I learned to place each element inside its own container, which allows me to edit how I would like each element placed relative to other containers with its own elements.
So I discovered the trick is to start out by stacking vertically the top level container called header and all its sub-containers.
Then for each container, I adjust the width, justifications and alignments. usually the width is 100% for the top level container.
By trying to fit multiple elements in one row, I’m limited to 100%. So each element width could be as low as 10% for dropdown menus and as high as 30% for tier thicker search bars.
I’m learning the difference between center and stretch ends for justifications. I almost always use center alignment, especially for mobile views.
But in one website that I sampled, there were multiple elements and only two elements fit in one row via mobile views.
So I’m still in the learning process of trying to get as many of my stuff squeezed into the narrow horizontal row header.
That’s all. End status report 1005 PST.
