Here are a bunch of my favorite widgets:
“Search”: I labeled this one “Inquisitions Within”. It’s almost like torturing the victim for answers. The search box is a good way to search my weblog. I use “pikachu” to sample how WordPress.com themes handle my requests. This widget is a must!
“Tag Cloud” and “Category/Cloud”: When I visit other weblogs (as if I care, really I do care but don’t have the time to read everything), I like to know what topics are posted on the weblog. It gives me an idea if I should read more/on or just skip to the next interesting weblog. These two widgets are also a “must-have”.
Widgets on what is “trending now” helpful for those who are curious about what makes the weblog interesting. “Top Posts and Pages”, “Top Clicks”, “Akismet” and “Blog Stats” are the ones I use to gauge my “happiness” factor.
“RSS Links” and “Follow Blog” widgets are for the convenience of readers who have a difficult time keeping track of “Recent Posts” and “Recent Comments”, both of which are two other useful widgets I use for my sidebar. “Archives” and “Calendar” widgets supplement the Search box for re/searching my weblog.
“Blogs I Follow”, “My Community”, and “Posts I Like” are three widgets that were implemented with a suggestion (no the widgets in particular) that I made on the WordPress.com forum. Beware! Evil Kitty lurks to provide quality assurance for happy bloggers, like moi! Bahaha! Oh, and you may well know, I provide, umm, other goodies “to level the playing fields”, too. Hehehe!
I love the “Custom Menu”, of which I could organize and label to my liking, including the “Gravatar”. Really, the widget titles are a hoot! Talk about being too bored!
Recently, I’m using the “Twitter” widget and that’s working out fine. I’ve made my personal peace with Twitter since they provide my precious downloads for archival purposes! Hiss!
The “Milestone” widget is currently lost in the Gallery widget area on single image page for the newest “Responsive” theme. I going to whack some volunteers with my forum ideas. Evil Kitty has fits now! Fits! Fits!
“Goodreads” was once useful but not anymore because I do NOT have the damn time to read good books!
