While I do NOT believe in euthanasia, I’d would make the patient (human and animals) as comfortable as possible. But if the patient (human or animal) is in terrible/constant pain, usually morphine is administered as a good “mercy killing” alternative by nurses, who “assist” the doctors in managing the care of patient, by the way. The patient doesn’t suffer and the families won’t feel “guilty”.
