At around 12:40pm, a volunteer went around our neighborhood to collect signatures for the “Petition for the Sierra Road Median Construction” vie a neighbor, Leif Larson. I signed it and put smiley faces! The Vietnamese left around 12:44am with Maw raising her excited voice! Hehehe!

**Petition for the Sierra Road Median Construction**
1. Purpose of “Petition for the Sierra Road Median Construction” – This petition is for the construction of a proper median on Sierra Road in San Jose, California. The attached signatures represent the support of the neighborhood surrounding Sierra Road for the Sierra Road Median construction.
2. Proposal for the Sierra Road Median – The proposed Sierra Road Median will span from the intersection of Mossland and Sierra Road to Sageland and Sierra Road. The Sierra Road Median will have turn lanes at each intersection to allow all side streets to access Sierra Road in either direction saely and conveniently. In order to enhance and preserve the residential character of Sierra Road, the median will be designed to be consistent with an existing median on Sierra Rod at the intersection of Lunmday and Sierra Road.
3. Justification for the Sierra Road Median – The Sierra Road median is an undeveloped dirt strip, a condition which has existed for over 35 years. This median is striped with double-yellow lines from the intersections of Mossland and Sierra Road to Sageland and Sierra Road. The current dirt median creates the following problems:
a) Inconvenient; vehicles cross the median to avoid the inconvenience of driving around the three block long median.
b) Safety hazard; vehicles wanting to turn left on to Sierra Road have to first turn right on to Sierra Road and then slow down or stop on Sierra Road and make a u-turn. Spreeding cars aggravate the poor flow of traffic.
c) Health hazard; dust from the median affects the surrounding houses, causing health issues and creating dusty conditions inside homes.
d) Unsightly; the median is pot-holed and dirty, giving Sierra Road the look of an undeveloped country road.
In addition, current and future construction projects around Sierra Road will increase traffic and accelerate the deterioration of Sierra Road. Current and future construction projects are:
*The townhouse construction on Berryessa and Jackson; Sierra Road now experiences an increase in traffic when barriers are placed on Berryessa for construction. Sierra Road will also have significant increase in traffic as the townhouses are occupied.
*The BART rail project, scheduled to start construction next year at the end of Sierra Road at Lundy. The proposal for the Berryessa BART station and track extension did not include expenditures for street improvements.
*The proposed housing development in the area of the golf course and Flea Market.
4. Timely Deliver of This Petition – The attached list of signatures documents the support of the neighborhood surrounding Sierra Road for the “Petition for the Sierra Road Median Construction”. This petition is to be delivered to the office of Coucilmemeber Kansen Chu, 200 east Santa Clara Street, 18th Floor, San Jose, CA 95113 no later than December 23, 2011.

*Off-topic* Once again, I hoping that the cameras could be installed on MY intersection because of my demonic drag racers. This is for the safety of the BART passengers, too. Bahahaha!
