“I would rather die in the street than live with my ungrateful children!” ~Cried Maw this morning after I’ve upset her last night over the HARWOOD 200 DVD video, which I would not set up in a few minutes and play for one hour. This morning I managed to unload our new $39.99 Toshiba DVD player and view only a couple of minutes of the video before Maw started to cry.
Last night, I was having lazy fun, didn’t say bad words but refused to cooperate with her simple request of viewing old video footage from 1978 to 1980. I yelled from upstairs that we would get to view the video the following morning. While she was playing with the parakeets, I went upstairs to set up everything but she took it the wrong way and got angry enough to close her bedroom door.
When I reviewed the 57 minute video, I noticed Maw and I were really rough with the Squirrel. Maw was always seen to go after the both of us, kept us in place and constantly reminded us face the camera out of concern over the limited film we could afford long ago.
I noticed, too, how I would “sound like Maw” (as per the Shillster) as I reacted anxiously to her tense moments during filming. And of course, the Squirrel would be “pushed and pulled around” for the film.
I saw how short Maw’s necked look. Mine is the same way. The image reminded me of aboriginal Australians — their short stature, short necks and curly hairs. I noticed too how her fun moments were restless, just like everyone else who were too busy playing and clowning around and in front of the camera. Her disposition of fun again seemed like the aboriginals — innocent.
Hopefully, after visiting her fellow nurse, who has been unresponsive for two weeks in the ICU (East Wing) of Kaiser in Santa Teresa (off HWY 101), Maw will have burned off her sadness and hurt feelings from the likes of my naughty attitude.
“That’s why parents don’t like to live with their children/in-laws because they will mistreat us. What will happen to us when we don’t have our own home, monthly income and savings? We would be at the mercy of these impatient kids who force us to keep up with them.” ~Cried Maw en route to this morning’s mass. She continued to shed her silent tears during mass.
I kept thinking that all this emotion is nonsense. These emotional “victims” are inciting war in the minds of people who are “testing” their sensitivities. So far, most old timers fail to open their minds because they are content to be stuck in their old, outmoded and traditional ways of living and thinking. It’s too bad really because the kids also mean well for their parents.
