Tonight, I’ve added a new domain. But in order to arrive to my paid upgrade, I’ve tested several choices by going through this admin webpage of my WordPress.com site:

The main part of your blog URL is its domain. An example of a domain is “wordpress.com”. You can have your blog at any domain you control, such as example.com, or set up a domain to automatically redirect visitors to your blog URL. Read more about it or just enter a domain name below and follow the prompts.
But I kept getting the following message:

Domain mapping is available for $9.97 per domain per year, registration not included. Note that some forms of payment (eChecks via PayPal) may take several days to process.

We were unable to verify that [domain name here] is pointing to WordPress.com. If you own this domain, follow the directions below to get it ready for your blog. If you don’t own it, try a different name to see if something else is available. If the domain is available, you may be able to register it with another registrar and then map it to your blog.
How to fix it
Using the DNS tools provided by your domain registrar, remove any existing nameservers and add the following:
- NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
Then come back here and try again. It may take several hours for our system to recognize the changes.

Later I found one that ended in `ism`. I know. I know. I shouldn’t create a separatist type domain name. But it closely ties in with my enthusiasm in blogging as a weblogger. I will soon share the new link as soon as I’m done building up the site via WordPress.com.
The next page showed the following three product:
- Domain Mapping (1 year subscription) for $9.97.
- Domain Registration (1 year subscription) for $5.00.
- Private Registration (1 year subscription) for $8.00.
- Total for $22.97 USD.
It then asked if I `Have a coupon?` I couldn’t `Apply coupon`. It then asked to `Select Payment Method:
- Credit Card.
- PayPal Express.
I chose the latter of the two. And it was easier, too. After a couple of pages, PayPal asked to `Complete my Purchase
Almost done! Just click “Yes — Complete my purchase via PayPal” below to complete your purchase.
WordPress.com PayPal transactions will appear on your bank or credit card statements under the name AUTOMATTIC or WORDPRESSCOM. Please do not delete your PayPal email receipt. If possible, print it out and keep it in a safe place.
No — Cancel!
I then went back to `Add a Domain` and now `The primary domain for your blog is webloggerism.com. The other URLs above will redirect to that domain.`
