A person can have many friends, even on social networks like Facebook and Twitter. They don’t necessarily need to be friends to be friends. They can be perfect strangers in the least to mere acquaintances.
The number of friends does not need fixed in order to maintain friendship, although I don’t see how one person can keep up with more than one good or close friend who truly can be there as a friend to help out in times of needs.
So out of honesty, no more than one friend is necessary and that is a spouse, at least, the other half, if you will, and an extension of one’s self. The others don’t count because they are NOT entitled to benefits of love and other rights in a contractual agreement.
OMG! That’s called marriage!

How many good or close friends do you think a person can have? What happens if they try to maintain more than that? Is there a fixed number, or are there things are person can do to be connected to more people? What about social networks like Facebook and Twitter?
