Home fireworks shows are illegal in San Jose

Under California Fire Code CFC 7802.3 and San Jose Municipal Code 17.12.730, those caught can be issued jail time and fines up to $1,000. Also, under Senate Bill 839, those found in possession/and or using fireworks could be charged with a misdemeanor or felony, given a fine of up to $50,000, and face up to one year in jail.
For the past few days, fireworks of single loud booms and usual series of crackers have been going off and on behind our house in cul-de-sac. It could be the Chinese are having some fun. I’m expecting next door neighbors (i.e. the in-laws of the divorced nutter) to do illegal fireworks, too. I believe they burned our pear trees. May karma ruin their lives!
