“We have never invested as much in public education as we should have because we’ve always had kind of a private notion of children. Your kid is yours and totally your responsibility. We haven’t had a very collective notion of these are our children. So part of it is we have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents or kids belong to their families and recognize that kids belong to whole communities. [Emphasis added]”
Um. So. What’s the big deal? Isn’t utopia a good idea? Communism/socialism, anyone? No! My brain interpreted this promo to mean something totally different. Okay? Let’s see. The idea of “family” can be extended to include “friends”.
The last time the boy visited his OLD “family” he emphasized that his “friends” are his NEW “family”. My god! What is going on? Is this an acceptable trend? I think he is a lost soul and really does NOT want to be responsible/grow-up.
I guess it’s becoming more and more of a reality as per the Biblical passage mentioning how families are fighting among each other and leaving their troubles behind by finding comfort/acceptance among strangers who don’t know their crap.
So with that said, I suppose we do indeed belong to each other. Melissa Harris-Perry (MSNBC anchor) did say that the primary responsibilities of children belong to their parents. If these parents cannot help raise the children, then it takes the whole town.
Remember chumps: too many friends can ruin relationships. So keep your alleged “buddies” to a minimum and don’t forget your family, because blood is thicker than water: Knowing your “past/DNA” will help define how you behave with yourself/others. Get it?
And if your “friends” ever, ever find out that you can’t get along with your OLD/biological family for whatever reason and you always come across as playing the victim, these gullible “friends” will know the Truth soon enough. Idiots.
