The next time you’re in a public place — a coffeehouse, a park, a store — observe the people around you. Pick a person, a couple, or a group, and imagine what their lives might be like.
Photographers, artists, poets: show us IMAGINE.
On a rare day indeed last week, the parents of the Boss attended morning mass! From my peripheral vision and among the more dedicated daily attendees, I noticed his Mom was VERY fidgety. She would constantly adjust the article of clothing. She was sometimes focused on prayer. The others were standing at attention and very still!
So for whatever it is worth, I noticed that most parishioners are sincere in their prayers because I would see them daily from Monday to Friday. They are seated in their favorite spots and anyone who looks new or “out-of-place”, like the parents of the Boss, will be noted. I don’t think this couple is registered for weekly donation envelops.
After most people received the Eucharist and after his Mom and the old lady went back to their pews and stood waiting for the rest to finish, his Dad came from the left side of the aisle, walked past the center aisle and towards the right side of the aisle, and placed himself to the right of the old widower instead of standing next to his wifey, who was to the left of the old lady, who is a Visayan, whose husband died of kidney failure due to shrapnel bullets left inside his body after being shot many times while parachuting downward from his team 101st Airborne unit. (She has bumper stickers proudly display on her two cars). She has a valid military card.
And because she was a spouse of this deceased veteran, the two parasites latched onto this sponsor to gain entry and shop into/at the DeCA later that day. Again, I noticed this old lady keeps to tradition by wearing a veil, a sign of humility and a symbol that she is fighting/a fighter against Satan, whose “legions” surround her, like the parents of the Boss.
Anyway, back to the parasitic couple.
I think their marriage has tension because we would see the husband hang-out at McD with other thuggish/fugly-looking guys, who may or may not be parishioners who attend daily morning mass. The wifey keeps busy with church activities, her whole life’s passion. We “feel” that she wants something from us by being “nice”. (Their two children are nowhere to be seen, except maybe keep in contact via electronic communication for the girl and at least every Sunday for the boy.)
Further, one time during the Saturday 5 PM evening mass and during the “peace be with you”, I mentioned in my old blog entry that they exchanged kisses behind me! She was to my right. He was behind me. I turned to my left and out of the corner of my left field of vision, I saw the jokers kiss on the cheeks! Maw said they were showing directly to me their marriage is “fine and dandy”.
We’ll my “bullcrap” meter indicated that their marriage is NOT all that “honky-dory” and pretentious to the point that us younger generation would cringe in distaste. Such display of public affection is really unnecessary since most Filipinos are more discrete and private, except the chopped Squirrel and his twit wifey. So I don’t know what they are trying to prove among members of the CoC and their relatives.
As an outsider, I’m NOT pleased that certain parishioners would proliferate their beliefs in my local parish. I’m learning to deal with their personalities and will have to refuse participating in their church activities too much because, frankly, I have been blessed not to be intimidate or unduly influenced by these ongoing indoctrinations, contrary to my “higher education” outside of the RCC teaching.
