I’ve learned that the cutting of Medicare is actually encouraging the competitive market system of capitalism. For example, here is a real life scenario.
- A patient needs frequent/routine blood work as ordered by the primary care physician for proper diagnosis.
- The patient goes to this particular hospital.
- The hospital provides a disclaimer notice that Medicare won’t pay blood work of a particular kind if done more than three times within a period of three months.
- Another doctor suggest going to a clinic nearby his office.
- The patient learns that this clinic charges $18 to $20 instead of the $215 that his NON-PROFIT hospital hopes to collect from unsuspecting Medicare recipients/patients. Plus, the clinic will WORK HARD to ensure the codes are correct so as to avoid charging too much to Medicare.
So while NON-PROFIT organizations may sound all charitable and such, they are really going to charge the government/taxpayers exorbidant amounts AND screw the patients with the headaches for NOT understanding the details and for trying to fix their bills with Medicare.
