“SAN PEDRO CUTUD, Philippines (AP) — Devotees in villages in the northern Philippines took part in a bloody annual ritual to mark Good Friday, a celebration that mixes Roman Catholic devotion and Filipino folk beliefs and sees some reenact the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.”
Now this takes place in a Pampanga province. We know a few Pampanga people from our local parish. But I’m not too sure this act could help the volunteer receive good luck/health.
The one thing that has been bugging me is how man-made religion and everything else from the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and whatever fictional character representing the holiday gives meaning to people’s boring lives.
That’s it! People have nothing else to do (besides working and sleeping) and to supplement their existence with these entertainment! Please stop hurting each other with these false teachings. It does not one any good, really.
In addendum to my old/ongoing thoughts, if you could be children all over again, would you care to know the difference between what these adults are doing from just simply being young at heart? These “grown” adults in general should stop fooling each other and unduly influencing younger generation with such nonsense!
There is no salvation in such acts of penance! You are living hell by continuing this bloody scene. Such offense!
