After morning mass yesterday (5/03/11), the three of us invited Fred to join us for breakfast at Denny’s. But the place was closed due to renovation. We arrived early, waited for him and we all decided to eat at McDonald’s on the opposite corner of the four way intersection. We learned that he has children living in his house. His fat daughter likes the air condition on; but he prefers warm temperature. His children would drag him to watch movies, eat out and come home late. The old man can’t keep up with the strenuous daily activities and would rather stay in the comfort of his bedroom and watch television. He complained that he cannot handle taking care of the brats. The fat cow cried and had to look for babysitter. He couldn’t tell his children to get out and grow up. “It’s too late.” he said.
Then later on that same day, Uncle Ben came by to hand us copies of the May 2011 edition for daily mass via our inquiry with Carlos the day before but we had already gotten copies from Josie, who had lots ONE MONTH before distribution. Ben and “Minh” know how to garden and suggested getting topsoil, which we bought today (20 bags at THD). During the conversation, we learned that he does the gardening for FOUR of his children. Maw sensed that the in-laws might not like the old man messing with their gardens but cannot say anything to him. He may be the controlling type who insists on doing the yardwork and imposes his will on others, especially his family. “You cannot tell these kids how to behave because that will breed resentment into their hearts. It’s too late.” Ben said.
“Why can’t you go out and enjoy? You’ve got money!” Said the boy and girl to my elderly parents. (For those who have these ungrateful showp-offs listed as their so-called “friends” via Facebook, one should know how unkind, uncaring and heartless younger generations can be to the old timers. Intead of appreciating our nice flowers out front or doing their own yardwork, they would rather fight with each other and hire gardeners to do their SMALL plots.)
Compared to the ungrateful and SELFISH younger generations, the old timers are more connected to the earth. I see that the home values should be kept low for a bit longer to teach these haughty ASIANS and snots alike to reaccess their value systems —- the vices of going the beauty salon, going kayaking and throwing dangerous harpoons for the camera, and of showing face without the true connection of family.
Tip of the day: Stop staying indoors and do your own gardening. Get off the damn computers, stop being a gamer, a couch potatoe and spend your money GROWING living things! Stop taking advantage of the elderly! Youth today are so stupid and lazy!
