The book is not always better than the movie. I need visual and audio aide via the movie to supplement the original reading material of a book. Any book writing by Hemmingway is the exception because his literary prowess to describe EXACTLY what the reader needs to experience during his thought processes in writing the book is surperb. "Cannery Row" happens to be that one book I could not forget, if I could only remember where I put that book.
