What are you good at?
20230529-0431. That’s correct. I can’t do anything correctly and nobody says anything!
I would catch myself making errors and all I could do is correct the errors of my way.
At home, I criticize errors of others, burn food, forget to turn off the stove and drip/faucet water, drop and bump into things.
Once I started an oil fire. I was heating extra virgin olive oil, the smoke rose up fast, meaning the frying pan was too hot, and before I got a chance to intercept the potential fire hazard, the damned thing caught fire. So I managed to stare at the incident a bit and ran to grab a metal lid to smother the sucker.
I would kick and scream or rather throw a fit of rage or have temper tantrums, use my potty mouth unwisely. (Actually, I’m making this paragraph up but it makes for good reading.)
I can’t find the correct words to say, have brain farts, take a while to recall what is to be said next, forget what I’m supposed to do next.
I’m having a difficult time seeing well as I’m near-sighted or myopic and have astigmatism.
I’m having a difficult time hearing well as I’ve been moderately tone deaf and have to turn up the volume of my hearing aids to the third highest setting which sometimes gets too loud.
(That’s why when I speak to others, I tend to speak louder than usual as if I’m screaming because, well, we deaf folks sometimes can’t hear ourselves and, worse yet, others, especially in crowded and loud environments.)
So in effect, I failed to socialize or speak well because I can’t strike up a conversation without having the listeners repeat themselves. I’ve learned to “guess” or fill in missing words based on contexts and/or read lips.
I find myself “reading” closed captions while watching videos online because I can’t make out or hear some words without increasing the speaker volume.
Looping back to my eyesight, I have two eyeglasses that are meant for distance and a third pair for reading. But the only pair for reading is already blurry too and the coatings have blotches. So doing computer work is a challenge.
Besides being tone deaf and going blind, I have a bad attitude of wanting to be heard and being impatient that I tend to talk over others.
I could go on. So I know being imperfect isn’t gonna bag me someone or anyone special who should be exceptionally patient and understanding with old farts and old timers alike.
Hello Flynn, nice, and good luck!
