Two days ago, Paw and I angered Maw for messing up her supply of syringes for insulin. She only had ONE needle left! She was so furious that she got really angry at the both of us. We dared not add more words to upset her further and we kept quiet.
Don’t get Paw wrong, folks. He is intelligent and well organized. Unfortunately, this morning he wanted to buy an extra set of needles while waiting for the mail order to arrive in a few days. It was unexpected and last minute decision on his part.
Had I not neglected to oversee the remaining needles, we would not have been in such a panic that morning because we didn’t know/remember the gauge of the needle. Paw only wrote down the title of the box and the six digit code, both of which were of no use to Kim, a pharmacist. She needed the eleven digit manufacture code to pull up from her computer system.
So we had to go back home and get a needle, which did no good either. “You’re a failure!” Maw exclaimed to me while waiting at the drop-off window of the pharmacy. I was laughing inside and said little to nothing and kept my eyes/gaze downward in shame.
While poor Kim was being patient and helpful, I pulled out my smart/cellphone, searched online for the company selling the blue boxes (not aqua-colored box) of 1/2″ fine, short needles. Since I didn’t have the piece of paper showing the code number that Paw wrote, Kim was confident enough to point out the correct code/gauge per the website.
Later during a late breakfast, she “encouraged” me to look for work because staying at home and in front of the computer most of the time have not gotten me anywhere or money/income to be independent. She noticed that I’m not sharp in the coconut as normally and would forget things.
“[I feel sorry for everyone who has to work hard to fund your unemployment benefits! You have no shame to collect from these people! Where is your pride, child? When are you going to grow up and be more responsible?]” Maw had lectured me that morning.
“[My father, bless his soul, told us: Work hard knowing that whatever money you made/saved was from your blood, sweat and tears. And no one can take that away from you!]” She continued.
“[You have nothing to worry about. After you come home, dinner will be ready for you. And all you have to do is save/spend your money.]” She convinced me.
(She knows my veins are clogged up because she noticed I was snappier recently. She was understanding enough not to drag the incident further. Later on that night, she felt guilty why she severely scolded Paw, who was comforted after she talked with him downstairs before retiring for the night)
After eating breakfast, I called three head hunters. One said he would call me back that same afternoon and never did. I received an email from him last Friday to forward a copy of my resume AND to call him back afterwards for an opportunity that was supposed to have started on Tuesday that same day.
I called another headhunter up in Palo Alto in a late response to another job opportunity, which didn’t match what I was looking for and I expected that one to not return my voice mail message. After TWO days of leaving a voice mail message to a third one from a different division and another location, she had sent me an email the following day:
Thank you for your call today to let me know that you are available for placement. At this time, we do not have an opportunity that matches your qualifications, but we look forward to finding the right opportunity and placing you as soon as possible.

So last night, I told Maw about my job prospects. I made a sad face and read off the email via my smart/cellphone. She said: “It’s hard to find jobs in this economy because Obama ruined the country.” I know. That’s why I depend on some form of “help” as partial repayment for their deceptions over the last twelve slong years. Regardless of where the money is coming from, it is like I’m paying for myself, if you think like I do. Yeah, me!
