Dear diary,
My brain must be functioning normally tonight as I’ve decided to prop up my laptop to the left of my 4K display upon a recycled wooden crate! Voila! It works!
Before moving the two computer items, I had my laptop upon my new lateral cabinet made outta PARTICLE WOOD, which is still a heavy piece of furniture! I wanted the extra table space on the main executive desk for my paper. But the arrangement still felt incorrect.
Originally, I had to set the Display > Resolution > Scaled > Larger text. I still cannot see stuff when using Display > Resolution > Default for display: “Using a scaled resolution may affect performance.”
Originally, I had to set Arrangement > Mirror Displays since I wasn’t using my laptop as a primary display. Now that I’ve unchecked the Mirror Displays box, I have two displays.
By unchecking the Mirror Displays box, I can do two thingies here:
- Placement of horizontal white menu bar. Click and drag menu bar to primary display. (The ‘larger’ blue display icon is designated as the the primary computer, or my laptop! The ‘smaller’ blue display icon is designated for the ‘external’ display!) That’s weird because external displays are ‘larger’ than the primary computer! So the designated blue display icons don’t make sense.
- Placement of blue display icons. Click and drag display icon either left or right, or up and down. (The smaller blue display icon for the external display is to my right and the larger blue display icon for the primary computer is to my left.)
And so when I use my mouse pointer, the orientation is correct: 4k display right and primary laptop left – mouse pointer right and mouse pointer left – Right and left, left and right.
Originally I was using my SMALLER laptop as the main keyboard BELOW the LARGER external display ABOVE. And this is because I was too cheap to buy a wireless EXTERNAL full functioning keyboard!
And because of my cheapness, the two blue display icons didn’t orient properly. So when I wanted to move my mouse pointer and up and down, the reverse would happen. Never mind.
My desk space is still cluttered and will have to push back both the laptop to my left and my scanner to my right; so that the ‘front’ areas are free and clear for dumping paper and/or for writing stuff.
Sincerely,
Flynn B sleepy.
