I’m waiting inside the car for my parents to shop for food. They accompanied moi to the follow-up appointment. Thank goodness the Filipino nurses were there to process my Number.
Anyway, the travel went smoothly, although traffic built up around the SJC airport. I memorized the route but had Google map on my smartphone. The back roads helped.
I checked in around 1455 pm and in a few minutes and got an admission band around my wrist. I was called to be weighed at 168 fatness. My vitals were checked: 123/80, 90 BP. My temp wasn’t done but logged into the discharge paper. Huh.
Thank goodness the front, admittance clerk was a Filipino woman, who put that band around by wrist and was helping a black clerk to her left. The attending LVN nurse was Filipino, who used to work at the rapport building of Mom’s workplace long ago. The discharge nurse was a Filipino guy, who said to come back in one week if I can’t stand the pain.
Unfortunately, the South Asian Indian physician only saw me five minutes. She was loud and in a hurry. She seemed annoyed at mom after I said that I was walking the whole day. She said that I had no broken bones otherwise there would be swelling and pain. In fifteen minutes, I was outta the clinic. She said she’s give me a splint but never returned.
While waiting, mom and dad bought papaya from the umbrella stand of a Mexican seller directly outdoors of the “adult express clinic”.
We went to the nearby medical equipment and supply store and bought that ankle splint, which was a prescription order. As per the slow-speaking Hawaiian guy, we returned next Tuesday to ask the owner if she can order new rubber wheels to replace the shredded foam tires of the transport wheelchair. We managed to return the ankle splint, which we didn’t need and settled for the free stretchable ankle wrap. The clinic wrap had a harder Velcro closure, where the hospital wrap had a softer one.
Overall, if I can only afford a low monthly payment for healthcare insurance, I’d take that over Medi-Cal.
