20151105-0101-Aside

Dear Lawd Gawd,

Thank you for allowing me the completion of downloading ‘freestyle music’ shared by Madame Mews on both sites AND of archiving one freaking batch of Kodak Prints dated 19820912-19821225 (a few minutes ago)! For without your gracious kindness from hell, I wouldn’t have been able to sneak outta the house during lunchtime from 1300 to 1400 and purchase my Epson Perfection V550 Photo Scanner from Frys.

You see, prior to this morning’s noontime mass, I’ve triggered the hurt feelings of the Mutha Fucka about the comparing of her cooking with a Filipino restaurant. Immediately, I proceeded to remove the four prong burners and its four metallic hot plates from the stove range, to wash the metallic pieces and to wipe down the stovetop as reparation for my potty mouth, of course. That prompt action appeased her cleaning spirit, which likes cleaning everything.

Anyway, I’ve had a difficult time loading the 35mm negative strips into the black-colored, plastic mounting guide. (Shut-up!) And I couldn’t figure out the orientation of how to load the shit. And so I had to rotate the suckers until I learned to see the white-colored imprinted guide on the plastic guide! It’s faced down, top facing ‘left’!

And so I also had a difficult time trying to figure out how to scan quickly the suckers, en masse. The plastic film mount took two rows of regular 9″ by 1″ strips. (Ours were cuts for three photos per strips back in those days.) The freaking Automatic feature didn’t capture the entire image!

So I ended up doing via the ‘EPSON Scan’ application: Click Preview > View within the Normal tab (not the Preview Tab) > Select an image for cropping > Press Zoom > Select again to crop for approximately 1.43 by 0.99 dimension > Determine if y’all wanna CR, BC, and/or ICE the sucker. Then press Scan and wait. Then I renamed each file using yyyymmdd-[01…etc]-CR for Color Restoration or -BC for Blacklight Correction. Then I clicked the ‘Full’ button to zoom outta there and reuse my 1.43 by 0.99 by holding down the selection and moving it to the next freaking frame!

Voila! In one and one-half hour (or 3 minutes per image processing for a batch of 25 frames), I managed to capture clearer images via the 35mm negatives. I ended up spending another one hour scanning Dad’s printed photos in a separate .pdf batch because of his hand-written notations on the back of each photo! I also scanned each 35mm negative to show the general order of these images.

With lots of cluster-fuck to your freaking slow-ass technology, which is NOT so advanced after all,

Evil Kitty

P.S. I’ve got another 25 batches that were ‘audited’ against each negatives and missing photos to process. The others may be another 25 unaudited batches. After I feel comfortable enough, I’ll bundle the suckers together and let the city garbage and recycling have fun. Bahaha! Shut-up! This photography hobby is NOT fun or funny! Now, I’ve got three freaking scanners – Neat, Canon, and Epson. WTF?
