Probably for the first time, Mom and I are watching “Miracle on 34th Street” (on AMC). I’m assuming this was a black and white film that was remastered with color!
Now, I see that traditional “nuclear family” – a girl and her parents of one man and one woman. The characters are well-dressed, polite, and behaved.
Now the ongoing debate between Mom and I has to do with telling children fiction, such as Santa Claus and his elves, or reality that children are starving.
Mom said that children need to be happy and not have their dreams crushed.
I say tell children that monkey businesses as usual promote too much consumerism, fraud, abuse, pollution, and waste.
With that said, most humanz are like little children. Give these little brats their hopes and dreams, and they’re happy, until they can no longer get their stash.
For example, the little girl expected to get her initial gift from Kris Kringle. But when she didn’t, she turned evil, betrayed by un-manifested goody. She continued to mumble her belief, though.
The same goes with religious folks. Give these stupid/crazy people the fantasy of heaven, hell, and purgatory, and they’ll believe anything fantastical.
But once ET and pals make their presence en masse known on this hellish planet, then the humanz may/might grown up and take the hard pill of reality or go insane from the evil that hurts their feelings and ruins their expectations of a Messiah.
This has been a public spiritual message. Amen.
