Well, I’m stuck in the ER again with Mom, whose BP was slightly elevated thanks to her lifting the old, heavy television and cleaning the silverware last night.
We moved the China cabinet towards the middle and that small television towards the corner. The arrangement feels and looks better.
According to the ER doctor, he felt the tightness of muscles in her neck (or a dent from what I felt) and rib cage area, which she mistaken as chest pain. This was probably aggravated by her lifting the television up against her chest.
So since last night, her heart was racing. She awoke at around 0300 in the morning and didn’t feeling good. She then took her pain killers and felt dizzy the following afternoon.
And around 1330, I had to drive 80mph to the ER after seeing vitals 195/78 BP 86 from our blood pressure monitor at home. She took another heart pill and that brought down the systolic pressure from 195 to 186.
I saw that she was rubbing her scalp out of the corners of my eyes and I thought she was having a stroke. But her veins are cleared, compared to my clogged veins of which I could suffer heart attacks and/or strokes
It’s 1844 and she’s awake from a deep sleep and snoring. The machine would make beeping noises whenever she moved, signalling that she is not asleep.
She had to urinate. One minute passes and no one answers the call. I later went out to talk to one of the nurses who didn’t put back the ECG and respiratory leads.
At 1845, we came back from the bathroom and the monitor is still making noise, which I silenced manually. I helped her get dressed and massaged her right neck, shoulder and we relaxed and touched the Yankeurs and other plastic tubing products.
At around 2000, Mom was discharged. The black, gray-haired nurse helped with the final discharge papers because Alice the other black girl was attending another dread locked patient.
I was disappointed in Das Squirrel for not caring. I texted him twice about checking up on Dad, with the third text prompting him to call his old man after I got off the phone with Dad at 1940. He can crash and burn for not caring, enough.
Side notes:
1419, walked into emergency. Print out of EKG showed abnormality in left VT, cardiomegaly. ER report read by cardiologist, the inventor who gave the late great purple-eyed actress her little “jewel”. SO2 86.
1715, vitals 137/58, BP 79.
1720, Mom feels better after the nurse administered half the syringe of injectable beta blocker.
1732, vitals 124/51 BP 68.
1800, vitals 114/52, BP 65.
1830, vitals 121/50, BP 67.
1903, vitals 135/65 BP 84. Leads, white – right shoulder; black – left shoulder; brown – middle chest, red – lower left abs; green – lower right abs.
Bottom line: Take your heart pills regularly. You are allowed to take an extra pill if your blood pressure level is raised above 170, but definitely if over 190. Take your blood pressure in another hour and then another hour to make sure the numbers fall below 170. If not, seek medical attention emergency, if you still feel funny or weird.
For anyone who encounters snappy screaming yelling people who are red on the face and neck, watch out! They night be experiencing great pain, heart attacks, strokes, and didn’t know!
