20140722-1733. Ori P came at around 1710 pm without ringing the doorbell. The three of us were seated at the dinner table. Dad was folding this morning’s grocery plastic bags; while Mutha and I worked on dismantling her brown-colored shirt for me. While seated, she hugged the RUSSIAN JEW and patted his tummy and complimented on his aqua-colored “alligator” shirt.
Mutha offered to feed him “dinner” which he accepted without hesitation! We hurried to prepare the dinner of refrigerated bottled water/clean glass, three shiny silver-plated flatware, our daily CorningWare plate, and of course the meal of either baby-back pork ribs, which he didn’t touch, salmon (baked with lemon, tomato, green onion – all from our backyard garden), which Dad twice scooped into his plate, which he held up to him, and our SaveMart green salad with Marie’s Sesame/Ginger dressing and croutons, which I dumped into his bowl of salad.
He ate everything in 15 minutes, walked his dishes to the sink, and left unaccompanied out the front door. Before he left, he said the garden was beautiful. He paused for a while thinking what to do next. Then he looked at me directly and bade me thank you with his opened right hand/palm forward and god blessed us three.
If he makes my parents happy, he makes me happy. He’d make a great asset, err, in-law if he wasn’t an older JEWISH fart. Anyway, his attitude is far better than the nasty twit wifey of Das Squirrel. At least, Ori P (though his machismo attitude is quite refreshing for REAL male species) knows how to “play” sincere games with Mutha in kind. That’s what Mutha missed – a simple sharing of meal, a few words of appreciation, and then go away/home.
Is that too hard, people? Come on.
Anyway, we gave Jose and Raul our token of appreciation after they finished this evening at around 1900 pm. Mutha is truly a nice person with a good heart. We had to ask Dad if it was “okay” if we gave them something for their hard-work. Mutha said Dad was trained by his grand-parents to be all that generous because most Batanguans are, well, “selfish”.
20140722-1646. Dad called the worker at 1600. They were supposed to be here at 1300. Jose and his cousin Raul from San Salvador arrived at 1620.
