Here is another duh moment: When in doubt clarify! Ask and hopefully the answer given will make/s sense. If fuming LOUDLY is justified, do so with discretion. Y’all never know if dealing with crazy/stupid entities.
It’s frustrating when the job/service is delayed. So it’s 1618. And I finished explaining to Dad the construction business has addendum/changes and that sometimes the “materials picked” is incorrect/damaged and that the “purchase order” clerk has to coordinate with the vendor/workers.
And I was being loud enough for Jose and Raul to hear. Anyway, I explained further to Dad that I likee the construction business because as per my recent blog, the project managers are, well, old and LOUD. I happen to talk LOUD.
Also, the job/workload is freaking slow but so damn near my home! Summertimes are busiest. Angela had to hire 14 more people. I told her that I’m always looking for full-time but love the flexibility of temp work because I hate committing to one company, except my headhunter.
As it stands, I hope they finish before 1800 pm. I told Dad that unions pay time-and-one half if hours are outside 0600 through 1800. Then there’s the shift, graveyard, and weekend rates, which differ among between apprentices, leads, and seniors, of course. Administrators get salaried. But for trade jobs, hourly is ideal, since there’s always the potential for odd hours.
Also, if they claim reimbursement, they’d show proof with receipts. Mileage depends on company policy. Like Jose, who sometimes buy materials for the customers, he would provide receipts for his “Expense Report”.
It’s an SOB, not “son of a bitch”, but “standard operation of business”. And it’s best to keep honest because “auditors” would ask for “backups” and “supervisors” are sneaky. They make surprise visits like Ed/Eddy did later on around 1700 pm.
I told Dad, depending on the company, there’s a smartapp that logs the mileage using GPS and the employee would submit a screenshot/whatever for reimbursement.
So whatever I learned, it’s all good. I hope to do something different but this is all I know. Eventually, I’ll find my niche.
