If I were the schools, they shouldn’t force the kids to eat food that is not allowed by their parents. Most kids don’t touch the healthy food, such as veggies/fruits. It’s because of peer-pressure.
I remember watching the other kids and avoided foods that didn’t eat. I loved green beans and would have drank the goat milk, which I recall handing to a female watching the kids eating in the cafeteria.
So I wouldn’t bother allocating “free food” or paid-food on the school premise. This will force the parents to take responsibility in making/preparing lunch/snacks for their kids.
My thought, however, is those neglectful parents who don’t have the means/cannot afford/don’t have time/are too busy to care.
