Well, my big-headed attitude is inherited by my grandparents, of which the paternal side gambled their hard-earned/sometimes borrowed monies.
And as such, I’ve taken up after my late/maternal grandmother, who spent lots of monies with her friends and bought unnecessary items, all to “keep up appearance”.
I’ve observed thi trait with Das Squirrel and his twit wifey, both of whom like moi, would rather hang-out with so-called “friends” moreso than their old family members.
I’ve heard from older parishioners that most kids my generation, to include the likes of Clem/his sister/pals, have preferred to explore outside an otherwise unhappy home/boring lifestyle by traveling.
The point is that life comes full circle, meaning the wisdom from the past serves as a reminder/benefit to future generation that tradition is not supposed to be “bad” and that the pitfalls of desires is NOT necessary.
Thanks to Dad: I’ve forgotten about the smell of leaking gas of my old Ford Mustang. And as such, I’m forced to budget/avoid “gifting” for awhile until I could spend once again. Bahaha! Karma!
