0933, Maw talked about how her late father collected mildew from off the leaves to help cure throat problems. His “patients” would drink the mixed concoction with water. The people of this old town didn’t have anything to help treat their sickness/ailment. For fresh wounds (“sugat“) or itchiness (“galis“), the treatment would be salt and water. Unlike her late mother, her father was full of talent just like the Squirrel, who can have extra perception if he is interested in using that special gift of discerning “bad people”.
0931, to treat painful teeth, he hammer a nail into a piece of wood and pray. He would ask the “patient” is the pain was still present and if it was, he would tap the nail a little bit at a time until the painful teeth went away. For the child with baby teeth ready to come out, he would tie the loose tooth with a regular piece of string and distract them by telling them to look up at the ceiling for the crawling lizard (“butiki“). And then the child looked up, he would pull the string fast and they didn’t feel the pain until a later on.
