Wise cracker: “There is nothing we can do about the kids. Just enjoy yourself.” Unfortunately, I could sense that your Mom was NOT focused when the wise cracker told her that. She looked away as if we hit her nerve about family life or seemed distracted that is was really time to go home or that she was expecting us to join her tomorrow for a church function.
To the Boss: Your Mom terribly misses both you and your sister, who is too busy to visit from downtown and she told my parents what she told me many times – that y’all have your own houses. It was interesting that she didn’t correctly use the words “lives” or “lifestyles”, whichever case you may happen to pursue (tongue-in-cheek).
Although your Mom seemed all smiles, all excited and engaged to hear my younger brother talk about his marathon running (of using bear spray), deep down there is something weird (as per the Squirrel) about her. I can’t quite place my finger/figure out exactly either – maybe it’s the rat teeth/incisors – a sign of devouring or fire breathing or just plain talkative.
Anyway and for whatever reason, I was numb the whole time. I wasn’t really enjoying myself. I couldn’t quite hear the conversation because the background noise cannot be filtered entirely well with my EXPENSIVE hearing aides!
It was only through Maw a few minutes ago that I barely recall understood your Mom telling my parents that I was “heaven sent” and that you told your Mom that I did a lot to help/was an asset to the groups/whatever.
So that’s why I shun socialization. I’m trapped within myself because it’s too embarrassing and lonely NOT to be able to hear well and ultimately respond incorrectly/misunderstand everything! But as long as the place is quiet (like today at church) and the human voices/audio frequencies are male/deep, like yours, I could hear BARELY that you’d give up us the line of music for the remaining 2013 Year C. We’re still waiting! Come on! Chop! Chop!
