The thing with volunteering is that one is not obliged to be perfect and hopefully not criticized or embarrassed unduly.
However, one is expected to at least know how to perform the job, duty, task, or whatever.
Leaving is always an option but as with most places where teamwork is essential, one must exit properly.
Take for example, last Thursday. I just “dropped the ball” on a known gossiper and didn’t feel remorse that I could easily leave, except I knew she was hurt as was I.
So back I went to my fate – a virtual prison among those loving in an asylum meant to rehabilitate the spiritually-damaged souls.
It’s hard work to keep up the faith, maintain the good cheers, and put on a happy face. One misstep could spell disaster and eternal damnation.
