Here are my boring notes via the “Memo” app of my smart/cellphone:
2012/03/03 10:09. During a late breakfast, Maw told of an old story of how she spent $3,000 for Lola Mac and Lola Luz to visit America (in Norfolk, Virginia where we lived) for the first time. It was for a two-way trip. Maw was crying again and Paw recounted a story of how he worked hard to put food on the table for his family and how he tried being a postal worker but confused the apartment dwellers because he was not yet in full uniform and how ungrateful relatives and a lost son forgot the hardship of his OWN parents.
2012/03/03 09:57. Had a thought about how two white-haired, old women would sit (during daily/morning masses) in the very back pews nearest the center aisle as anchors to the double doors leading to/from the lobby of our local parish.
2012/03/03 09:56. We were watching FoxNews Live (America’s Headquarters) and heard/saw Frank McKinney’s story about “Millionaire trade places with the homeless”. Then I thought about the writer living in Southern California. Hmmm.
2012/03/03 09:49. Paw talked about working hard to put food on the table for his OLD family, who were still living in the Philippines until they came over to America to ruin our peaceful lives. He said his “friends” called him a “Stay Aboard”, because he didn’t want to join them to sight see the various places where the U.S. Navy stopped over. He mentioned working his first duty station in the admiral’s office; while his co-worker enjoyed the outside.
2012/03/03 09:38. We were watching FoxNews and Josh Romney was speaking. Maw said: “Yeah, right! You rich kid! Your father won’t win.” And so it is. For awhile, Maw didn’t like the looks of “Mitten’s” face, which she said looked deceitful.
2012/03/03 09:36. Paw said the “ipo-ipo” was a Filipino word to describe a very strong whirl-wind in the Philippines.
