12/10/2011 10:13am to 10:16am. Paw told stories of his stewardship while serving Admiral Ferrell in the 15th Naval District in the Panama Canal Zone. He said that he two dogs were chasing squirrels. The two dogs belonged to the Admiral’s wife. She wanted to have the dogs stop chasing the squirrels. So Paw and another steward were sent off to chase down her two dogs. This incident occurred on the Admiral Quarters, where most Filipinos served/slaved, for example, as a chief cook and a third class server/steward, without a rate/rank (or TN). Most were steward apprentices that came from boot camp school in San Diego Training. Paw had worked in the quarters of the Junior Bachelor officer. He was promoted to serve in the Admiral’s quarter for being such a good steward. There is an old photo showing Paw as the only one SMILING! Everyone else had frowns on their faces. Hehehe! It was a prestige to Paw.
