Which is worse – losing one’s mind or a $300.00 part for a car? I’d say getting old and forgetting where old items were placed are worse. It’s equally sad when someone forgets where he is, who he is, the people around him and places, too.
A few minutes ago, the boy came over and delivered three LARGE bagels with melted cheese. These were nicely staked inside one of Maw’s plastic containers, which she KNEW was missing. Her memory is sharper than mine, which is no better than Paw’s.
So the boy went through our garage and to the exact spot where he claimed the missing part was originally located. Then he went home and in a few minutes, called and accused us of purging even possibly his bicycle helmet, which may have been give to either Robin or his sister.
Now, how many people went in and out of his house? Perhaps, his in-laws are taking things without his knowledge. Maybe his wife threw away some of his stuff after he threw away some of her belongings. But that was a long time ago.
So I hung up the phone, not appreciating the fact that we old timers with old memories were accused of losing his property, which he claims to have forgotten to take with him during the move into his new house over three years ago.
All I recall is placing a bunch of boxes with his stuff in front of his house long ago because he wouldn’t open the friggin’ door. I also recall him retrieving a BIG, yellow-colored, plastic container (which was formerly the city’s recycling bin).
He tends to forget where he placed his keys. So that should be something to consider in light of this afternoon’s disturbance of the peace. Maw was sleeping on the sofa at that time, by the way. She pretty much ignored him, knowing that his intrusion wasn’t really about us, after all.
