After chatting with my cousin Yesha from overseas in the Philippines late last night, I’ve concluded the desperation of poor socio-economic conditions of that place made her lie, just like everyone else, who are TOO lazy to work hard.
The last time we chatted online or rather when she talked at length to Maw for more than three house via webcam was on December 1, 2009. At that time, she had told a story about how an old woman, who was stranded from the flood downstairs.
Yesha invited the old woman to live with her upstairs until the flooded waters below receded to safer levels. Yesha claimed the old woman stole money in the amount of 3K from her, after a dinner out unknowningly with her OWN money.
Then last night, Yesha also made claims that she lost 8k from an unknown someone, who stole her wallet. I reported this to Maw, who scolded me for now answering my cousin back. I should have asked Yesha:
- Why do you keep telling us you have money stolen by strangers?
- Why can’t you hold your money better and not loose it next time?
I should have asked my cousin:
- What happened to the money we gave you for the Australian VISA?
- Why do you keep telling us your problems with finances?
And there were THREE others whom I met online that uses the financial tactic for various reasons:
- I’m afraid to die. I’ll pay you back.
- He is asking for a blue business suit.
- One of our guys is stuck over there.
- Don’t let the authorities know.
- We’re starving.
- You’ll get your money back. I promise. It’s guranteed.
- My foot is about to be amputated.
- My hemorrhoid operation is US$500.00.
- I sold your jewelry gifts for money and you need to get it back.
- I miss my grandson but don’t have money.
- We sold your real property without your permission and you need to get it back.
