I love happy stories. But what I don’t like are con artists. Today for lunch we watched on cable news about `‘Second birth’ for mistaken coma victim in Belgium`. It appears that he was `Conscious but paralysed: Belgian ‘coma’ case not unique`.
These people used `facilitated communication`:
`a process by which a facilitator supports the hand or arm of a communicatively-impaired individual while using a keyboard or other devices with the aim of helping the individual to develop pointing skills and to communicate.`
The caretaker would hold the right hand of the patient and the patient would type out letters on a keyboard, describing his ordeal while in a coma for the past 23 years. We saw on the television how he smiled. That smile shows that the brain STILL functions! And he understood and is aware of his surroundings.
However, I would like to use my logical mind and determine if the caretaker is the person responsible for typing out those DAMN words! The boy’s mother was there! Why couldn’t she hold her OWN son’s hand and become the facilitator?
By having someone else or many others become a facilitator to this man, this simple test should help rule out any contamination of my scientific study to find out if `faciliated communication` works!
Also, the mother should ask her boy a personal question that noone else from the friggin’ facility should know. Someone else other than from the facility should be the facilitator, who holds the boy’s hand while conducting this simple experiment.
If the boy’s eyes aren’t rolled up into his damn skull and if he keeps his damn head directed to the damn computer screen while typing out those damn words, I will believe that his brain functions.
Please stop scamming the public. The recent exposure of the global warming scam by `El Rushbeau` is worldwide~ Will `facilitated communication` be one of many more worldwide scams spewed out by these scientists who cannot oversea their own peer reviews?
WTF? I expect the speculative folks to debunk this recent news that the brains of comatose victims are still normal even after possible, if any, injuries to the head.
I recall from another science show on televised programming of how a laser mounted on the head the patient helped point to the keyboard faster and thus communicate without another person contaminating the message!
Are we regressing to holding hands, like facilitated communication over computerized laser technology? Come on!
