Cousin Yesha chatted with Maw over the microphone from 09:11am to 11:49am via Yahoo! Messenger this morning. We saw her over the webcam, which we do NOT own because a couple of ungrateful IT personnels do NOT have time to help us install one! We saw how FAT she was the other time but looks less fat this time.
The story started out with our old town being underwater and Auntie Aida lost with other evacuees. The cemetery of the town is flooded. It is near a hillside and faces a busy street. I remember (back in 1996) the jeep-nees honking their horns for anyone on the road to watch out for oncoming traffic. Muslides were everywhere.
Then the story went onto people suffering, looting and fighting. A person befriended her and stayed over her apartment for awhile. The friend claimed to be someone training to become a nun. For all she knows, 3,000 pesos were stolen. She didn’t know that thief brought her out to dinner one time with her own stolen money!
Then the usual hard luck story went on to how she cannot work because the water is up to her waist or neck and how she cried, wading in that dirty water. She sniffled while talking with her BIG headphones and microphone attached. I think she got a cold from the storm. Bottom-line: She usually needs money, which Maw will send to her.
Why is it that people come to us for money? Karma: Either given freely and mostly without asking; for it’s shameful in the first place to ask for hand-outs. However, begging is meant for survival. Gee. I could use some money because I want to move out and take Maw and the parakeets with me. Paw can stay and take care of the plants for all we care.
But since TPTB and its tentacles continue to deceive moi, God has answered my ANGRY PRAYERS. Acts of natural phenom in the form of earthquakes, tsunamis and tropical storms have been harvesting people for being greedy, eating more than their fair share from the backs of those people who were taken advantaged of. You know who I’m talking about, Pete.
When people divorce their feelings from spooks and separate their sentiments from the past hurts, both Maw and Yesha Maw have learned to never look back and count their blessings They will have moved on with their lives, except Maw is still married to the stubborn one while Yesha has divorced William her first husband.
As a matter of fact, Yesha’s son, Pee-Wee, moved out with the wife and newborn son, William, who looks like me as a infant – an obvious frown face and wide islander head. She is much happier that the boy left and is losing weight, too, from not cooking for more than herself.
