After dinner tonight, we three decided to harvest our fruits and vegetables:
- 65 – spicy peppers (green),
- 20 – eggplants,
- 16 – bitter melon and
- one recycling bin (yellow) of pears, which Paw separated between edible and trash.
Actually, I did MOST of the harvest with my bare hands and and pair of scissors. Maw and I started with the spicy, green peppers (long), then the eggplants, followed by bitter melon and the pears, which took longer since I was too short to could reach the top of the tree and was able to get the job done by using a kitchen stepping stool for the extra height.
The tenants (a Filipino couple in their sixties) of the next door neighbor received some vegetables, which Maw handed over the standard height fence dividing our property on top of a 6 foot ladder, which Paw held steady for her. He also cut some New Zealand spinach for them.
These bountiful blessings will be distributed to some parishioners, who are mostly friendly to Maw than to Paw or me – both of us are quieter and non-interactive in conversation.
