I hate hard coding my ‘new’ website for FREE via Yahoo! GeoCities! It was a pain to ‘perfect’ three small pages the whole of last night. The default is a page called ‘index.hml’ (Flynn’s Paws and Orgone). The other two pages are ‘link.html’ and ‘contact.html’. I will create an ‘about.html’ page later. This site is for orgone (or orgonite-related) supplies and devices. Please take a gander. Thanks.
I used the ‘Fun D’Mental’ design of eight ‘Quick Start’ web pages via Yahoo! PageWizrd. The color combinations are blue, yellow and orange and rather ‘fun’ for us ‘mentals’! I used a clipart image of an ‘orange_sun.jpg’ via Microsoft as a main link back to the ‘Home’ page. And it’s located somewhere in the middle of the blue area towards the left.
There is a ‘static’ column located to the right and it contains ‘My Favorite Links’ and ‘My Info’. I couldn’t figure out how to ‘hard code’ the tables to create new titles and its text below. I ended up ‘renaming’ the ‘Email’ field to ‘Contact’ and ‘hid’ my Yahoo! email address by linking that text to the ‘contact.html’ page.
I learned about how the `html`, `head` and `title` codes at the beginning of the ‘HTML editor’ made the words ‘Welcome to Flynn’s Paws’ for the ‘index.htm’ page appear on the upper left hand corner of my internet browser. ‘Flynn’s Paws – Contact’ and Flynn’s Paws – Weblnks’ appear for the ‘contact.html’ and ‘links.html’ pages, respectively.
The page to the ‘Orgone/Orgonite Weblinks‘ contains workable links based on my blogroll here at WordPress.COM. It has the rollover (or mouseover) information based on the ‘taglines’, if any, provided from the vendor’s website. I’m smart, really. I plan to create a ‘various’ page to include photography, soaps, charities and discussion forums, which seem to have little activity other than WM and PWM.
I like Yahoo! GeoCities because it allows for JavaScript. I am dismayed that plug-ins and JavaScripts are not allowed here at WordPress.COM due to security reasons. I really wanted an international clock showing the seconds and maybe some nice drop-down menus, too. But despite the shortcomings of some features, I found that blogging is easier for free at WordPress.COM.
