20080901-Jump Girl

Jump! Yeah, I remember jumping to the song by the American rock group, Van Halen, back in my head-banging days. One of their songs was an opening theme for the announcement of John McCain’s running mate, Sarah (van?) Palin. Who is she? She is the governor of Alaska. I like her. She’s smart and she rocks! She sure is pretty (from being a second runner up to a beauty pageant). Her introduction to the whole world convinces me that she would make a great vice president for the Republican Party. Plus, the policies of that political party happen to jive with my opinions despite my current voter’s registration as a Democrat or Independent, whichever I cannot remember but will change appropriately.

I find her background very good: PTA, school council, mayor, NRA, etc. She does come across as a normal person, who is portrayed as a soccer or hockey mother from a small town, but also strong enough to handle a firearm (like moi). I’m not going to play upon sexism or feminism but I will mention quite honestly that women primarily run the household. And since Palin knows how to balance commitments to both her family and her country, I see no reason why she is more qualified than Barack Obama to run the Natives’ land.

There is no reason to believe that her responsibilities to a daughter giving birth would in any way impede that ability of Palin to do her job as running mate to John McCain. I would like to see a female as either President or Vice President of the United States. Most democratic nations have at least one leader who is female, by the way. I’m sure the Divine Mother would be pleased, too, if the United States had its first female Vice President. Besides, she is Catholic (like moi, but confirmed). I liked how she closes her acceptance speech with the blessings of and by ‘God’ to America and the American people means a lot to me, really.

What really matters to me is the value of life. I like her conservative views on abortion and how she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy with downs syndrome. I’m sure if anyone asked a person with downs syndrome (perhaps with higher function) they would like have lived. As a matter of fact, the other day, I’ve heard a beautiful voice singing. He was tall with light brown hair and he had downs syndrome. He was coming out of the van (parked on the disabled parking lot) to my left while I waited inside the Mercedes Benz E430 for my parental units to finish shopping for lunch at the self-serve section of ‘99 Ranch Market’. The Filipino attendants were there to assists the other patients in the van. (But I’m still wondering about the technological availability to allow the more free-willed persons, who choose the convenience of removing non-viable babies over the beauty of life in all).

The fact that Palin’s hardworking husband works in and around oil related activities and that Palin does fight for the people of Alaska and against the status quo of big oil companies is good enough for me. We all know that petroleum is our current technology unless something more advanced is introduced into our society. Nuclear technology may be cleaner, according to an ‘old soul’. But the clean up is most definitely messy. And the effects of depleted uranium (DU) deform babies, by the way. Hybrid cars running on batteries are only good for short commutes and definitely not safe for airliners, which is the most polluting vehicle known so far. For the sake of example, I have an electric shaver that is water proof. But it could only hold a charge for one day. Replacing and discarding old batteries is costly and not as renewable a resource as expected, unfortunately.

Although Palin surprised everyone, I am hoping to learn more about Palin in the upcoming days. We all know that John McCain was a P.O.W. and that Sarah Palin has a son serving over at Iraq; while Barack Obama does not have military experience. As far as I understand, most presidents of the United States have served in the military. The United States is known for its might from ‘the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli’. And I have a feeling that McCain won’t let our troops down by letting them stay in Iraq all that much longer.

Although my rants would be liberal in some sense (or way out there for some sensitive readers), my worldviews are rather conservative if not borderline moderate. Actually, I’m in the middle (which is typical of a free-willed, ‘windsurfer’) and don’t care in taking sides of any issues. I do know where my vote is going despite the lack of sufficient air time allotted to the Republican Party and Palin but more to the stupid news reports spinning about tropical storm Gustav, over and over again.

We know that the news spins lies about how former Governor Nagin of Louisiana told everyone to evacuate years ago and how people didn’t loot. News of deceit like these are getting annoying because inquiring minds would like to know also how the people at Sichuan, China are doing with more recent earthquakes, by the way. So it’s up to people to listen to the substance of the speeches and find out which politicians will help lead the country to more lies or reform, like Palin has done by far.
