At 10:57AM today, a representative from Jehovah Witnesses has made a note after my request through the black iron, front door to our home. She asked if we were receiving anything through the mail and I said none but got stuck saying not to ‘visit’ us and sharing their versions of this ‘Jesus Christ’. She filled in my sentence with the word ‘calling’ instead.
I have nothing against religious people coming over to home but it’s better they don’t because I remember slamming the door on a couple of old Filipino guys. Most of these Jehovah Witnesses are Filipinos and I believe they know of our address due to a Filipino neighbor located diagonally from us and whose relative used to date a fourth cousin of mine for seven years.
The one who visited us today was a short, light-brown haired, white lady with two cute kids, the older sister sitting down in her younger brother’s stroller. There was a colorful white umbrella that shaded the little girl while the little boy in black shoes and white socks trotted alongside his mother.
A daytime visit from these nice folks is find but there was only one other creepy time in the middle of the night when two Mormons visited. I had my chance to get one of their Bibles to read but couldn’t intercept them in time and hollered across the street if they could come back and give me one while they were talking to the daughter of the house. They looked back to see me making noise. And that probably freaked them out for I never seen them ever again in our neighborhood.
Anyway, below is my script that I normally use to remove our address from their mailing list via phone calls or emails:
I am calling about catalogs for someone who no longer lives at this address.
I would like our mailing address removed from your database(s).
Please let us know when our request to reduce paper mail has been processed.Thank you.
I’ve been calling the toll-free numbers and e-mailing the contact weblinks to stop the receipt of paper mail, such as catalogs and advertisements, including any unsolicited items. My purpose is primarily to save the trees and save our money.
The temptation to purchase unnecessary junk still has not ceased. I do keep a log for each ones: time and date of the call, the operator (and identification number, if any), contact information of the sender (name, address, phone number and email) and any customer identification number for the addressee.
