I want more widgets in my free WordPress.com account! I’m already getting bored with the current contents and have not been writing new posts due to lack of imagination. All I’ve been doing is modifying the ‘RSS’ feeds widgets that don’t work with the ones that update everyday. Yesterday, I’ve added more ‘Popular Prayers’ to a ‘Text’ widget and fixed the < br > tag to make the prayers appear in a more poetic form.
I’ve been checking my ‘Blog Stats’ to find out what is being viewed. I noticed viewers were clicking the links within the ‘Top Posts’ widget, which I’ve placed within the ‘Stats’ section among the ‘Blog Views’, ‘Top Clicks’ and ‘Poll’ widgets of the right side bar. But these were towards top and I really wanted people to view the most recent posts.
I had to figure out how to make that possible. I noticed that the ‘Home’ refreshes on the left side of the screen. So I thought to myself that I should place my ‘View’ sections of widgets on the left sidebar starting with ‘Recent Posts and ‘Recent Comments’, followed by ‘Category Cloud’, ‘Tag Cloud’ and ‘Pages’. This one worked and I have seen only a very slight increase in traffic here.
As a result I had to move the ‘Search’ section over to the topmost right sidebar with the following widgets: ‘Archive’, ‘Calendar’ and ‘Categories’ This meant removing the ‘Search’ widget due to a duplicate search form on the right side of the header for this current ‘Digg 3’ theme. The ‘Stats’ section is now below the ‘Search’ section of the right sidebar.
Below this ‘Stats’ section is a mostly the ‘RSS’ widgets and some ‘Text widgets. I still want a theme that could accommodate a bottom bar for my ‘copyright’ instead of the sidebars. Maybe there could be a widget for the top bar too. But I believe this is all the default themes available through WordPress.com for now.
