It has been almost a month now since Brat has not called or visited his parents. On Monday, January 14, 2007, his father has given the boy an ultimatum – to do something about his fiancee or he is on his own. Actually Brat has moved on with his life already to live with Twit since May 1, 2006. And so far there have been lots of disharmony between his ideal of ‘kayak love’ and our practical assessment of their relationship. To date, there has been no married, just like my first cousin, Chilled and Tick, her junior of ten years, only the convenience of living together for the sake of companionship and the second income to sustain a lifestyle of unpaid mortgage debt.
The ultimatum was in no way construed to prevent Brat from getting hitched to Twit. On the contrary, that was the opportunity for the boy to access in his rash decision of jumping into a relationship (without the formal and proper introduction of the Twit and her family) out of eagerness to ‘get his own home’ or rather to remove himself from an environment where none would listen to him or his decisions of exercising the free-will to disrespect those caretakers who wanted nothing more than to see his happiness. He chose his path and so the prayers of Maw are only left in the Lord’s hand. We will see.
Unfortunately, the boy only heard what he wanted in hear in what he termed a ‘one-way’ conversation’ in which he played the rebellious victim in love and his elders is ignorant to the differences in their background –180 degrees as I described to him in terms of social grace and overall sense of her dislike toward Maw for whatever reason. Tonight, both Brat and Twit are coming over due to her family wanting to give us something for Chinese New Year’s, which is tomorrow.
After Maw picked up the main phone downstairs pretending not knowing it was Brat, answered angrily, ‘Who’s this’? And with his reply, he said ‘It’s your son’. Maw refused the gift especially anything having to do with sweets (since she’s diabetic). Unfortunately, there was no formal inquiry as to Maw — how she is feeling or doing overall. We know both Brat and Twit do not care for our welfare, from stubbornness in front of us, unwillingness to compromise to the elders and overall disregard to the fact we are still alive to being too tired or busy to call or visit.
Her aloofness in my previous blogs was noted from her impatience in subtle bodily stance to leave right away to her unwelcome greetings when Maw and ‘Kim’ were both at the hospital at different times, respectively. Even a future in-law would know better how to treat the other side, which is us. And unfortunately, she only knows her Chinese culture, which will merely serve as a bandage to the ongoing challenges ahead for us all. We don’t even know if their ‘gift’ is from her family! I am definitely pointing to prejudice about the horror stories of children who mistreat their parents to the point of removing them from their will or threatening at gunpoint (as one Chinese father did to a couple).
As briefly mentioned in my previous blog, I’ve prayed specially for a Buddhist to stabilize the emotional side of this arrogant Atlantean whose behavior is purely self-centered by the spending of his hard earned money on expensive hobbies of SEVERAL remote control helicopters, sailboats, brand named bicycles and other accessories. She on the other hand has not saved much for their wedding or children since they moved in together, always spending on clothes and food for others and buying wedding gifts for friends who may or may not attend their wedding, if any.
This is another reason why they are here: To make sure they won’t loose the chance of money for their marriage. If Brat had no shame and Twit had common sense, both would take out loan instead of begging like ungrateful pests and work hard to show to everyone they are not parasites to those they have offended tremendously. I will continue my honest observation of their shenanigans behind the scenes. We simply don’t like her stupidity or the boy’s attitude. After Brat stormed off about a lie that he had a project to do at work around 06:00PM that night, I wonder why he bothered coming back to visit as if nothing had happen one month ago.
Bottom-line: Bad things will happen to those who continue to live in sin, to live happily ever after leaving those who once mattered in their lives behind and lie through their false teeth that they are meant to be together despite the truthful sentiments communicated by parents, relatives and friends. Like another sad tale of Conning and her popular white boyfriend in China, these stubborn people have to live their lives truly ‘on their own’ forever and ever. Amen. I wish these fools in love the best of luck, meh!
