This blog is based on ‘She-Devil’ — a 1989 film starring Meryl Streep (Mary Fisher) and Roseanne Barr (Ruth Barr), who makes a list to ruin the life of her husband, Bob (Ed Begley, Jr.). I’ll use the four items listing ‘Bob’s Assets’ and recreate my version as ‘Flynn’s Assets’ (courtesy of TPTB – my most hated, puss-filled nemesis, including the fibrous vegetables of yuchoy and onchoy).
- House: Flynn doesn’t own a house. Owning a house in the Bay Area requires at least two incomes and since she doesn’t have a man in her life, qualifying for a mortgage (or a lifetime of this burden of debt) is unrealistic. It’s simply unaffordable! She, however, does live rent free and comfortably under the same roof with her parents.
- Family: Flynn doesn’t have a family. She is over the hill and the chances of birthing a normal child of own put her and the child at high risk. Raising a family of her own takes patience and understanding – both qualities of which she has little tolerance. Her only family is the parental units. She lost her rebellious brother to those Chinese and her ungrateful relatives to self-centered ego.
- Career: Flynn doesn’t work. Her only form of income is cash advances from credit cards that she uses to pay down her bills and mostly unpaid, revolving lines of credits (refer TPTB). Working means dealing with a bunch of other back stabbing rats, racing for the managerial positions. SOX will never leave and job security is never permanent.
- Freedom: Flynn doesn’t have freedom. She is trapped at home with an outdated family and jobless. She is a virtual prisoner in front of the computer where the internet provides her only means of escape to the outside world full of lousy losers and sorry strangers. Her only friend is imaginary, who also taunts her for fulfilling the ‘Devil’s List’.
So you see folks, there is much sentiments left behind by my nemesis. The arrogance of those dark ones will continue to be on my most hated list, Axis of Egos, no matter how they come off as nice saviors. They will continue to do whatever they want, whenever they please and at the expense of us less informed and mostly ignorant persons, who don’t really care about others but themselves first and foremost.
Although I came from a middle class, I live practically among those lowest rung of the ladder. I have no health insurance (costing almost $500.00 per month for the better ones) and no job (paying almost $2,000.00 per month). I literally have to make be conscious of my every moves to sure I don’t encounter any weird accidents, be treated at the hospital or worse become disabled.
I have nothing to my name except the 1998 Ford Mustang. Everything else belongs to my parental units. I also have but my own mind and heart. My survival really depends on the support of those who love and care for me — and those are the people the TPTB really owe. It’s all about ‘them’ (not me) and how they would handle unfinished business to help those unrepresented Americans.
But in retrospect, I do have other blessings – no stress, no responsibilities, no worries, no concerns or headaches that other folks consider as living the life they always dreamed of — which is being above the rest or, rather, on the topmost dung heap pile of eternal and unpaid debt. I see that each person is truly happy and perfectly placed for whatever reasons by, you guessed correctly, TPTB.
The devil is meant to truly test our limits and how straight and narrow we all ‘keep the faith’ – the path to ‘God’. No matter what happens, I am observing y’all and expect progress and some improvement. On recent news dated January 18, 2008, I see the ‘white devil’ called ‘Bush’, who has backed a $145 billion ‘temporary economic package’.
To me, this small gesture in the form of a tax rebate handout worth around $800.00 is not only taxable for the year of 2008 but seems to be for good luck or to make amends and appease the angry spirits (like me) — just like the Chinese tradition of giving us sweets (like chocolate) or circular objects (like oranges). Only money (in this current world) talks louder, not outdated superstitions.
If you find yourself on the devil’s list, there is no escape. And no amount FREE money (from the government or other sources) is going to make ‘economic’ conditions improve for those who have nowhere else to turn. I guess the only way to be removed from the devil’s list to let go of those four items and move on to better things in life. This means stop buying expesive, high-brow junk – excess food, clothing and immaterial accessories! Good luck to all, though.
